A Night With Reality Royalty, Olivia Rodrigo Hysteria, And Gap's Dôen Vibes
What you've been missing over on Rich Text's Patreon!
When we stepped into the Lawn Club in downtown Manhattan on May 7th, we immediately knew we were among our people – reality TV people, that is. Reality stars, producers, casting directors, content creators, podcasters and journalists, all together in a room listening to the dulcet tones of John Denver as remixed by DJ Kyle Cooke, thanks to Vulture’s Reality Masterminds event.
The wide-ranging content package and celebration were a great reminder that reality television has become a legitimately important piece of the entertainment industry, complete with its own media ecosystem. After 10+ years of covering reality television as journalists, podcasters and cultural critics, it’s satisfying to see that ecosystem taken seriously and given its due. Plus, we got a great party out of it. So, we decided to gossip about it all on the Rich Text podcast.
We’ve been having a lot of fun over on Patreon the last few months. Yes, gossiping about reality television personalities (duh — have you met us?), but also diving into the divisive discourse about Olivia Rodrigo’s babydoll dresses and bloomers, talking about the shockingly resonant way that “The Devil Wears Prada 2” addresses how billionaires and AI have impacted media, and getting into all of our rage-filled thoughts about “Summer House” and the wholly unsupportive male partners on “The Valley.”
Plus, we could never forget about our weekly recommendations, which you can still find over on Patreon each and every week! Recently, we’ve talked about some of our GAP faves (the brand has some really wonderful Dôen dupes and decidedly un-Dôen prices), writing about “under-babied” women, and our complex feelings about the Love Trapped podcast.
