All Our Black Friday Picks In One Place
Welcome to the chaotic depths of our online shopping carts. Plus, some suggestions for Giving Tuesday!
Happy Thanksgiving week! It’s a time for rest, reflection, and — let’s admit it — an ungodly number of sales. To do the Black Friday sales justice, we decided to put together this subscriber-only, super-sized shopping newsletter this week, filled with all our past favorites that are available at a discount this week and all the tempting things we’ve been considering adding to our own carts. Plus, a list of some places that could use your Giving Tuesday dollars.
Places To Donate To Before You Shop:
The Loveland Foundation, an org focused on therapy, healing and opportunity for communities of color, especially Black women and girls.
National Network Of Abortion Funds, a network of almost 100 independent abortion funds around the country.
Lambda Legal, which fights for the LGBTQ+ community and people living with HIV. They are currently raising an emergency response fund for the work they’ll be doing heading into a second Trump presidency.
ProPublica, because independently-funded investigative journalism is essential, especially now.
The Human Utility, which allows you to directly pay for families’ water bills.
The Florence Project, which provides free legal services, social
services, and advocacy to immigrants facing detention
and potential deportation.UNRWA, an organization supporting Palestinian refugees.
Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, an organization providing medical care and humanitarian aid to children in the Levant.
If you’re on Bluesky, follow Molly Shah — she’s speaking directly to Palestinians in Gaza and sharing their fundraisers every day, which is a helpful way to get money directly to people in desperate need.
What We’re Recommending (And Eyeing For Ourselves) :
Hill House Home: 30% off everything, plus deeper discounts on “stock up special” dresses
What Claire recommends:
A basic dress from the stock-up special! This is a deeper discount on some of their core solid-color basics. Last year I grabbed a navy cotton Ellie, since it’s a summer staple. Be warned that the black and navy cotton dresses are thin (this doesn’t bother me, especially at the sale price, but some find them flimsy).
A shadow stripe gem: Even better, this year they’re offering a stock up special price on their solid shadow stripe Ellies with contrast smocking. Personally, the shadow stripe dresses are my new favorites. The fabric is supremely light and drapes beautifully, the smocking is supportive, and they’re lined. They work well with tights and sweaters. Recommend!
What Emma recommends:
The Lafayette Sandal. These are the perfect-height heels. I can walk around New York City in them paired with jeans, or wear them to a wedding. We love versatility! These shoes were already on sale, so with the additional 30% they are an absolute STEAL.
The Lace Ellie! I think my black lace Ellie is the Nap Dress I own which has gotten the most play in my wardrobe. It makes a great beach / poolside cover-up without a slip, is a great summer dress paired with neon bike shorts and a matching bandeau bra, or can be a true occasion dress worn with a black slip. Highly recommend!
HHH PJs! They’re soft, cute and pretty budget-friendly.
