LIVE And IRL With Emma And Claire!
Get in besties, we're going on (mini) tour. And we want to meet you!
Friends, lovers and podcast besties: We’re going on TOUR.
We haven’t done live shows since 2019 (a.k.a. the last time that Claire was pregnant and before we thought about things like pandemics and aerosols and KN-95s). And we could not be happier that we are getting the chance to do three shows — one in Philly (6/6), one in Boston (6/16), and one in New York (6/22) — before Claire is officially not allowed to leave the New York area.
What will these live shows be like?
It will be like a classic episode of our long-running podcast, Love To See It (formerly known as Here To Make Friends). We’ll be recapping a vintage episode of “The Bachelorette” at all three shows, and at each show we will do it with a different special guest (Kelsey McKinney in Philly, Jill Chin in Boston, Arden Myrin in NYC). There will be games and jokes and cringe-worthy clips of 2012 reality TV. Come for the right reasons: laughter, games, and a side of scathing feminist commentary!
What super juicy vintage episode of “The Bachelorette” will you be recapping?
Episode 5 of sweet, Southern, single mom Emily Maynard’s season of “The Bachelorette.” This episode, which first aired during season 8 of “The Bachelorette” in 2012 is a BANGER. It’s also known as the one where Emily threatens to go “West Virginia hood rat backwoods on his ass.” This episode also features future golden boy Sean Lowe’s very first one-on-one date and future Bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s extreme anxiety at the prospect of dressing in women’s clothing. A lot to dig into!
Will I get it even if I’m not a “Bachelor” fan?
Absolutely! This show is designed as a standalone product. We’ll be talking about “The Bachelorette,” but we’ll be giving enough background info and making enough jokes about the weird fashion of 2012 to make the show relatable to anyone. Last time we went on tour we had friends come to our shows who had never seen an episode of “The Bachelor” and yet they still had a ton of fun and were not confused.
Can I watch the episode you’re recapping ahead of time?
Yes! Season 8, Episode 5 of “The Bachelorette” is available to stream on Hulu. But even if you don’t have time to watch ahead, we’ll come armed with enough visuals, clips and obsessively detailed recapping that it won’t matter.
Will there be a meet and greet?
Not a formal one, but we’ll be mingling and saying hi after each show. We’d love to see you there and meet you all in person! This community has been so nourishing for us and it will be such a treat to see some of you IRL.
Why aren’t you coming to the west coast?
We’re sorry!! Honestly, only because things didn’t come together on this tour in time for Claire to be able to get on a plane. (She’s in the third trimester!) Next time we will prioritize doing shows further from our home base!
