Thrilled to see Our Town mentioned!! It was inspired by my tiny NH hometown and Wilder wrote it while in residence at an artist’s colony there. We used to read it in English class and I’ve seen a few community productions, so it’s very close to my heart. It’s a really special play. We also used to read The Skin of Our Teeth (same author) in English class, which is WAY weirder.

Also love the donation suggestions!

That's so cool! It's kind of wild that I made it so far in life without closely encountering it, as an English major and a theater kid, but it's a wonderful play.

If you haven't read "Tom Lake," you might really enjoy it -- the narrator has a similar relationship to "Our Town" as you do, and the play is not only heavily referenced but clearly inspires some of the narrative turns and characters in the novel.

I will definitely read Tom Lake - thank you for the recommendation! I just read a few Ann Patchett books for the first time this year and really enjoyed her writing.

I love the “Thankful For” section! I’m thankful for you two and this newsletter! I look forward to Love to See It and Rich Text episodes every week, they always brighten my day. 🥰

And yes to funding public education!! I used to work for a free daycare program for low income families and it was the hardest, most rewarding work I’ve ever done. If it paid a living wage, I’d still be doing it. I’m glad to hear Max is adjusting so well to public pre-k. 💕
