I love to hear that you're getting into Kendrick Lamar, Claire! I feel like anyone who loves literature and the written word in general should be a fan of rap music. Rap artists use literary and poetic devices with greater complexity than artists in any other genre, and Kendrick is arguably the greatest of all time on those terms. Plus he has a million bangers regardless of whether you dig into the lyrics.
That's absolutely true! I've always had more of a melody-first approach to music, so I think I assumed it would just never be for me. Turns out you can cultivate all kinds of tastes!
Feel free to ignore this because I know I'm being one of those annoying people giving you music recommendations you didn't ask for 😂 But I feel like you might like these songs: Diddy Bop by Noname, Sunday Candy by Chance the Rapper, Hands Up by Vince Stapes. Skegee by JID.
Also sharing here a resource for those who want to make calls about the attempted cuts to research grants funded by NIH - the consequences of which would be truly devastating for all sorts of critical healthcare research, hospitals, universities, etc. This is one that seems like it can get bipartisan support given the specific implications it has for key Senators' state economies (NC, AL, ME) so wanted to provide a resource for those who aren't called out. https://5calls.org/issue/nih-nsf-funding-cuts/
THANK you for your civic challenge. I'd love for you to share information about Indivisible. It's a national organization with about 1,200 local chapters -- 200 new ones launched in November after the election. I started one in Ohio, and we went from 19 people at our first meeting to 73 at our second. The organization does a ton of work to arm you with calls to action, toolkits and an amazing community of like-minded rebels. The two of you young women are strong voices, so keep up your excellent work! You're both my guilty pleasure (Bach goss) and hope for the future (your and my son's generation).
I am in the Akron area. There are quite a few Indivisible chapters in the Cincy area. Go to indivisible.org and enter your city or ZIP code, and you'll see. I would reach out to each of them and ask them what they are doing -- some groups are more active than others. Good luck!
Sadly, I don't think the long flared jeans are practical for us gals living in walkable (& wet/dirty) cities. I read that they were originally pulled by their shared stylist for Timmy C, but thankfully Kendrick took them and had a *moment*
I so appreciate you two!!! Just know you’re not the only ones massively, obsessively, alarm bells ringing concerned about our government right now. Right there with you!!
I've been watching Scamanda and love all the scenes where Nancy's pup Mr. Munch is featured. We didn't get that on the podcast! 😂 Also, seeing photos of Amanda looking so healthy all the time - it's amazing she pulled it off.
As someone who got married 3 days before the election and went back to work the day the winner was announced, I very much understand! People asking me how I was doing, and going, "Great! The wedding was amazing! But also terrible! Politics, gah!" It was a weird day.
Really appreciate all the resources this week of where and how to engage more.
And the sippy cup mystery had me on the edge of my seat…and what a sweet conclusion. 🥹

Yes, we shared something from Indivisible last week! I've been using their resources a lot.
This sounds amazing! Where are you in Ohio? I'm in Cincinnati.
